We had a very successful Gather the Women Event at the
"Israeli and Palestinian Mothers' Peace Train," where Richard Gere was
our Guest of Honor. The conference took place in Faradis, an Arab village
near Haifa, on June 3, 2003. It was in support of the Road Map for Peace
in the Middle East, and it instilled new hope in both the Palestinian
and the Israeli women and children. Richard Gere was delighted to participate
in such an exciting and important gathering, and he complimented us for
the beautiful "Women Peace Poems" which were presented by various actors
and singers, from the book: YOU AND I CAN CHANGE THE WORLD (By Ada Aharoni,

The caption (in Hebrew), under the picture reads: "Richard Gere came to Israel yesterday for 4 days, invited by IFLAC the international movement of "The Spirit of Peace," to give support to peacemaking in the region. The American actor was invited to a Gathering of Mothers in Faradis, and he talked to Jewish, Arab and Druze women, in the Youth Center in the village. He said: "Such wonderful peace meetings by women should be covered by CNN and the BBC, and not only when men kill each other!" www.iflac.up.co.il
The other photos are of our GTW Workshop and the Poetry Session that was part of our Gather the Women festivities.
